It’s George Bentley. I’m the president and CEO of Bentley Baths amazing walk-in therapy tubs. I got into this business because of an event that happened to my family, that I know now is happening to millions of other families out there.
My mother fell in the bathtub and broke her hip. As a result of that injury, she ended up spiraling, downward medically, and we lost her in a nursing home. It took about a year, but it was a direct connection between her falling and hurting herself in the bathtub. And I lost her in a nursing home.
What you’re looking at here is a picture of my parent’s bathroom that existed at that time. And you can see how difficult it might be for my dad to bathe my mom in this environment. I had put in a couple of grab bars that you can see here. And I said, mom, you’re safe, but she wasn’t.
After my mom passed, my dad made it perfectly clear to me that he would never want to go into a nursing home. And he wanted to stay in the family home. He’s actually living in the home that my mother was born in and that’s where he wanted to stay.
I determined, that there was a technology in the field called walk-in bathtubs. A large company in Canada was doing a lot of mass media advertising. And I set an appointment up for my dad.
Now, my dad was born in 1919, He went through the depression and world war 2. My dad always told us that money doesn’t grow in trees, we can’t afford it, and if it was for him, forget it, I don’t need it. So I never thought in a million years, my dad would be buying some product from some salesman that came into his home.
When I set that appointment up and sure enough, he called me that night and he was all excited. I bought myself a walk-in bathtub and he’s just pumped about it. And I said, well, that’s really great, what’d you pay for it? He tells me $20,000 and I’m like whoa, that’s a lot of money.
And believe me, I was not thinking about a business that didn’t even come on my radar screen until I went back to Arkansas and I visited my dad. That’s when my heart sank. I’m telling you, it was like a tinker toy.
It was put in like a washing machine. And it was at that point that I said to myself, if I, an adult child can put as much effort as I put into trying to help my dad. And that’s what they get for $20,000. There is a huge need in this marketplace.
So that’s when I decided to start Bentley Baths. I began to research every product that was in the marketplace. And I’m not telling you, there’s not somebody that could have come into this industry in the last few days that I don’t know, but I am telling you that I’ve dedicated my life to being an expert in this field because my mom always taught me that knowledge is power.
So I’m committed to helping other seniors and their adult children and their loved ones to discover the true power of medical hydrotherapy, which we’ve trademarked as a high-quality walk-in bathtub or the appropriate, safe bathing technology for them.
